I absolutely hate that phrase. As soon as it hit 00:00 on 01/01/2017 my Facebook page was spammed with “New Year, new me! posts. But is it really?
Yes it’s a new year, but how exactly are you new? When you wake up on 1st January, you’re still exactly the same person as you were on 31st December, you just may have new resolutions/goals/aspirations that you want to complete. That in no way makes you new.
Alas, I like most have indeed set myself some 2017 goals. I call them ‘goals’ rather than resolutions as majority of them are numeric, and have a tangible result. Now these are things that need much consideration, so I decided to take the first week of the New Year to work out what I think I can achieve.
The Sleeper and the Spindle is a ‘sort of’ retelling of two classic fairytales: Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. Written by Neil Gaiman, it follows his winning format, taking a well known subject and twisting it with dark and sinister undertones. Chris Riddell’s gorgeous illustrations compliment the story perfectly in every way.
Cast: Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Mads Mikkelsen

My third and final guest post of Blogmas comes from somebody who’s already featured in the past with her Cursed Child review, the one, the only, it’s Clare (better known as ABookandTea)! Clare’s Christmas traditions have always intrigued me, so I asked her if she would kindly share them for all to experience. Over to you Clare!
Happy Christmas Jumper Day to all!
As it’s Christmas Jumper Day today, the day that everyone dons their gaudiest, brightest and baggiest (to make room for all those minced pies!) jumpers, I thought I would share the best Christmas jumpers I have seen this year. And yes, as a certified nerd, they will all be nerdy.
Upon the recommendation of my friend Fiona, on 18th August I started watching Gilmore Girls. It took me a looooong time to get through all 7 seasons, but as of Monday I have officially finished the first run of the show.
A story about Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (short for Lorelai (she named her after herself (I know right?!))) Gilmore, the show follows the tale of mother and daughter through school, first love, college, college dropout, back to college and graduation. We are taken on a journey of ups and downs, highs and lows, that makes us fall in love with the small town of Stars Hollow, and its inhabitants.
