…but I’m feeling 22!!
I’ve refrained from singing that all day but I feel that I’m allowed the guilty pleasure at least once, right?!
Yes, today marks the 22nd year that I have graced this planet. It’s a strange one, because it’s one of the first years of the none ‘special’ Birthday. Not that all Birthday’s aren’t special, but it’s not a milestone year like 16, 18 or 21 where something specific happened or changed (the latter only really in the US). If you get my meaning.
Over the weekend I indulged in some pre-birthday celebrations. A lunch with my family on Saturday afternoon followed closely by an evening with all my favourite girls. It was a blast; we chatted, bopped to Just Dance and played some Uno Extreme…and it got extreme!
Now I struggled for a while to make a decision on what to do today. My parents kept asking me “What do you want to do?”, but I just had no ideas. But I have to say, I had a really nice day today. Spent the whole day with my Mama, wandering the streets of Liverpool, spending Birthday money’s on all sorts of trinkets and filling our tummy’s with plentiful pizza. It was glorious! The weather attempted to dampen our spirits by raining for quite a while, but we were not to be stopped.
As you can see, we had plenty of fun, topping off a lovely day with a complimentary milkshake in Ed’s Easy Diner. I’m telling you, those things are to die for!
Getting home it was time for some gifting. I left presents until the evening because my Dad was in work before I woke up this morning and I wanted to open my gifts with both of them. I received all sorts of lovely gifts such as:
- MightyMug (If you’ve never heard of one of these then check them out!)
- Joules Wellies
- Malificent BluRay
- Complete James Bond Classics
- Tess Gerritsen Collection
- Minions and Star Wars pjs (awesome!)
- Doctor Who tshirt, keyring and mini figure from my brother and his family.
- New SD card from my friend Sam (Super practical!)
- Giant pencil and cool doodling book from my friend Emma
- 2 super cute clay models of the 10th and 11th Doctor from my friend Jess (Check out here!)
- Lots of money from various family and friends
All in all I have been thoroughly spoilt! I have spent some of the money I have been given on a new leather satchel, something that I’ve been wanting to buy for a while now. It is beautiful! I absolutely love it.
After all the hustle and bustle of the day it’s been nice to just relax after getting home, had a visit from my friend Jess who stayed and chatted for a good while and also indulged in some cake, because everyone deserves cake on their birthday! I must say, M&S produce some of the most delicious cakes I have ever eaten. Then, imagine my surprise when I turn on my laptop and notice…I have a personalised Birthday Google Doodle! (See above). How cool is that?! I know that it’s not something special that Google has done just for me, it works for anyone who is signed in with their Google account. But it made the inner nerd in me squeal…just a little bit.
I have had such a lovely birthday, both today and celebrations over the weekend. But on a more serious note this Birthday has been a different one. This is the first Birthday I have had out of full-time education and without a job. Now I’m not going to end this on a sombre tone, that’s just not in my nature. But I am now extremely excited to see exactly where my life takes me when I turn 23.
Peace and love.
